She Remembered Who She Was and the Game Changed...

One thing I want to do on the website is post a different quote on the homepage every month. This quote from Lalah Delia is one of my absolute favorites and I think it's something we can all relate to.

She remembered who she was, and the game changed

Have you ever had one of those moments when you realized you have no idea who you are?

It's a shock, right? It's hard to look back and pinpoint the exact moment when you lost your identity, but you're sure you weren't always like this.

It's okay. We've all been there. And if you are one of the lucky ones who hasn't, I can guarantee that almost every other woman you know has.

It's insidious the way it happens.

We start out fine, or at least as well as can be expected. Our teenage years are a time of transition, but there is usually a point in our early twenties when we  develop that true sense of self.

For many of us, it's the first time we feel empowered as we begin working towards adult goals. We may not have all the answers, but it's a time when we have some autonomy and we're starting to make decisions with real-life consequences.

Ten, twenty, thirty years later, many of us look up and feel a little lost.

This is normal. Just like the characters in a good story, people evolve over time. They have highs and lows and changing priorities. And somewhere in the middle of all that, our sense of self can get blurred.

And that's where this quote comes in. It reminds us to remember who we used to be. We shouldn't try to relive our twenties, but we can embrace our strengths, our faith, and our personal truths. We can make ourselves whole by integrating the essential pieces of the person we were with the person are today. And finally, we can celebrate how far we've come. And when we do that, the game does truly change.
